2012 Turkey Leg Dinner
The Knights of Columbus, Woodland Council 2143, will be sponsoring a Turkey Leg Dinner for the public on Saturday, January 28th, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Holy Rosary Parish Community Center located at 575 California Street in Woodland. The dinner will include not only a great Brannigan’s Turkey Leg, but also Spanish rice, beans, salad, roll and dessert. Beer, wine and other beverages will be available for purchase. The meal will be prepared by Henry Richter and Jim Hanney from respectively Knights Landing and Woodland, and assisted by their experienced crew. Henry and Jim are known throughout Yolo and Sutter counties for their famous “deep pit barbecue” style of cooking. Henry and Jim have been cooking this well-known recipe for years. They prepare Brannigan’s Turkey Legs with a seasoning, wrap them in foil and burlap, and then slowly cook them for approximately 6 to 7 hours.
The proceeds from this year’s dinner will benefit Holy Rosary Parish, Woodland, and St. Paul’s Church, Knights Landing. Proceeds will be donated to Holy Rosary Parish for its ongoing Needs Campaign, and to the renovation and capital improvements of St. Paul’s Church.
